South Bay | anywhere in California, Pennsylvania & Texas
Hi, my name is Jingyi.
I provide virtual therapy to individuals and families who want to address their family-related issues. I am South Bay Area-based and also licensed to provide counseling services anywhere in California, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Therapy can be conducted in English, Chinese/Mandarin, and Taiwanese. I am here to support you in exploring the impact of your family, coping with your current life struggle, and clearing up the vision of your desired life. Are you ready to start your healing journey?
Therapy Philosophy
To get to know a person, I learn more about his/her family and the surrounding the person grows up with. This is the central philosophy for how I treat my clients. This has been greatly impacting how I conduct the assessment with my clients in their initial appointment. When exploring the self-image or life purpose. it is nearly impossible not to explore the family’s impact. Family does not always bring love, care, and joy. Sometimes, it triggers worry and loneliness and brings you pain. The therapist’s role is to assist clients to get insight into their life events, grow clarity about the desired future, and find ways to move forward.
Approach
I find that, like physical health, we recognize the importance of overall health but we might have limited energy for certain symptoms at the moment. I collaborate with you to develop a safe and practical plan to cope with day-to-day stress as well as the uncomfortable feeling when you uncover past wounds.
My clients have told me that they realize how their past impacts their ability to function and why they feel so “messed up”. By growing such insight, you will have the chance to explore the pattern of family interaction and your responses/coping. You will also be assigned homework between sessions for self-observation, reflection, and action on small changes. My clients gave feedback about homework- they get an aha moment and build up small successes little by little. The goal is to help you grow your awareness and insight and be confident with the path you choose.
A little about me
I was born and grew up in Taiwan. I am the first generation of Taiwanese immigrants and mother of three fur kids (🐈⬛🐈🐶). I used to live in Ohio and Pennsylvania for more than ten years and moved to California during the pandemic. From Asia to the U.S. and from the East Coast to the West Coast, I enjoy learning about the world from different perspectives. Outside the counseling room, I love to cook and bake. In Taiwanese, we greet by asking “eaten yet?” As Asians, we connect with each other and express our love and care through food. I am also a big fan of scent therapy (a.k.a aromatherapy) and love to apply essential oils in my day-to-day life and make DIY items for enjoyment as well as coping.
Population & Issues: I worked with children, teenagers, parents, adults, and immigrants (first generation or their descent). I specialize in childhood trauma (complex trauma /adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), parenting, family relationship, Asian cultural counseling, and life transitions.
